THE FIRE OF GOD HEBREWS 12:28,29
TODAY’S MESSAGE: THE FIRE OF GOD
OUR GOD IS ALL CONSUMING
Fire has been used in several instances, that can be very beneficial in life. Fire warms, purifies, evaporates, strengthens, and enlightens.
However, if used in the wrong way it can very well harm or kill you! Our GOD is an awesome GOD, He is an all consuming fire (Hebrews 12:28,29).
When we approach the fire, we can draw near to its calling, of warmth, guidance, and fascination, but if we handle it wrong, it will burn!
This is not the intent of the message, but one of caution.
The fire i am talking about is not an earthly fire, but a spiritual fire of eternity. It can never be put out, because the fire is eternal.
The fire of GOD:
Affirms - In 1st corinthians chapter 3, Paul, the Apostle tells us about every man's foundation being tried by the fire. If it is durable, we shall be rewarded, but if it is not bonifide, loss will come, but that person will still have salvation.
Be careful how you build on your foundation, because the Holy Spirit will try it to see if it is anchored in GOD, and if so it will be made manifest and Affirmation from GOD will stamp it with approval.
Cleans - The fire of GOD, cleanses us when we come into HIS presence. All that is not like HIM will be refined, Purged and purified. Just like gold is from the ore, it is put through the fire to bring out the dross (Zechariah 13:9).
Devours - We have to be careful with not coming against what GOD approves of. In the book of Leviticus, chapter 10, two levites that were priests, took it upon themselves to draw near to GOD, without being summoned, but also offered to HIM,unauthorized fire. The fire of GOD, came out and consumed them immediately before the congregation (Leviticus 10:1-3).
We have to remember that GOD is holy and sanctified, you cannot be out of order and offer unto HIM. It was aaron's job at the appointed time to offer incense before the LORD, at HIS prompting.
Consecrates - in the book of 2nd Chronicles, chapter 5, says that the glory of GOD filled the temple after they had followed all the instructions of the HOLY SPIRIT.
The presence of the LORD is present when He sees the foundation is securely built on HIM and is ready to be filled.
anoints - in Matthew chapter 3, verse 11, we see that John the Baptist was telling us of two different baptisms. One, was the one that symbolized dying after being submerged in water, and then coming up with power, symbolizing the new life in JESUS CHRIST!
But we also need power to live that different life. So, even though a pastor baptizes you in water, JESUS comes to baptize you with fire and THE HOLY GHOST. Because you have to have power which symbolizes the anointing.
Characterizes - The splendor of GOD, is awesome and unexplainable. If there was books, that was filled with HIS attributes, no library in the universe could contain them. Just the beauty of HIS holiness, is enough to give up the ghost and desire to be with HIM.
He is Omnipotent (all powerful), Omniscient (all knowing), and Omnipresent (all present). He is The FATHER of mercies, and the GOD of patience.
But most of all we must remember that HE is an all consuming fire, that must be reckoned with, if we draw near and not being beckoned, if their is anything that does not resemble HIM, fire may come out.
But if we come being mindful of who HE is and offer holy praise, we will be at peace with HIM and warmth will come forth, and we will see clearly the path.
